          WHEN Faith Penhale was eight she left Brownies rather than miss her weekly fix of Tucker’s Luck, the 1980’s BBC Two TV series following the fortunes of a working class youth in East London.

          Faith, the new head of drama at BBC Wales, recalls her mother marching her down to tell Brown Owl why she was leaving and hand her uniform back.

          In the days before iPlayer, television drama junkies had to make tough choices and in the battle of the ratings Brownies came second.

          Faith, 37, who now heads up the burgeoning BBC Wales drama department at its new home at Roath Lock in Cardiff, says she was reared on the great television dramas of the 1980s.
