For years, height and weight have always been almost a matter of opinion – no exact measurements were ever verified. According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, NBA teams are now required to provide exact height and weight measurements.
The rules specifically say the bow string may not be used in any way to assist in aiming by use of a peep sight, mark on the string, or by any other means.
This led to a lot of NBA player height changes
NBA spokesman Mike Bass confirmed the report to The Washington Post, adding, “A consistent process has been created to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the data on team rosters.”
For height measurements, all players will be required to remove their shoes.
Most NBA players were upset by this, as they don’t play without shoes on. The height will be rounded to the nearest inch. Weight measurements will be less strict, as players tend to gain or lose weight quite frequently in the league.
The new rule change is believed to come from the NBA’s mistake last year with Sacramento King’s guard Buddy Hield having his age inaccurately reported, claiming he was a year younger than he really was.
