Chrisantus is in victorious mode at the 2007 under-17 World Cup |
Three years ago, the Nigerian teenager Macauley Chrisantus emerged as one of the brightest prodigies at the under-17 World Cup in South Korea.
The striker fired seven goals for the victorious Golden Eaglets.
That feat was enough to earn him the prestigious Adidas Golden Shoe award, following in the footsteps of Fernando Torres and Alberto Aquilani.
English clubs Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool were among those reputedly chasing the youngster.
Spanish giants Real Madrid, French side Lyon and Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam were all also linked with a move for the youngster but he opted for German side Hamburger SV.
Chrisantus signed a contract with Hamburg's reserves, before it was changed into a long-term professional contract when he turned 18 in August 2008.
