          Matthieu Aikins is a Canadian-American journalist and author best known for his reporting on the war in Afghanistan.

          He is a contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine and a contributing editor at Rolling Stone, as well as a Puffin Foundation Fellow at the Type Media Center. He has also been a fellow at New America,[1] the Council on Foreign Relations,[2] and the American Academy in Berlin.[3]

          He is a recipient of the Pulitzer Prize,[4] the George Polk Award,[5] and the National Magazine Award,[6] and his writing has appeared in the anthology The Best American Magazine Writing 2012.[7]

          Early life and education
